764. What did you do after you saw the submarine fire at Shek Kai-cheung's junk?
The next junk shot at was Lam Shu-po's junk.
765. How many shots were fired at Lam Shu-po's junk? Two shots were fired. 766. After firing at Lam Shu-po's junk, did you notice what the submarine did next?
It shot at Lam Chu's junk.
767. How many shots did the submarine fire at Lam Chu's junk? One.
768. Was the submarine gradually coming nearer to you whilst it was firing at these junks? This submarine was approaching nearer and nearer as she was firing at these junks.

770. Then what were you and your father doing on board in the meantime?

776. You have told us that the submarine then went and attacked Fung Hing-wo's junk. How many shots were fired at that junk? Fung Hing-wo's pair of junks- 4 shots were fired at the two junks by the submarine. 777. After that did you see what the submarine did?
Yeung Yat-hei's junk and fired at it.

778. That was the junk that your father was working with as a pair? Yes. 779. What did it do to Yeung Yat-hei's junk? Three shots were fired and that junk
sank.
780. And then what happened? At that time we lowered our mainsail.
781. And why did you lower your mainsail? For the purpose of using it as a kind
of raft for saving us if anything should happen.
782. And did anything happen to you? Yes, the submarine fired four times at our
junk.
783. Where were you when the shots struck your junk? I was in the hold on board. 784. How did you know that four shots were fired at your junk? After three shots had been fired I came up to see and I saw the fourth shot, and then I withdrew again.
785. What happened to your junk after these shots had struck it? The bow of my
junk went down, but the stern was afloat.
786. Can you give us some idea of what was the closest distance that this submarine approached your junk? The nearest point was a good long distance the nearest point was about 140 fathoms.
787. Did you notice how many guns it was carrying? Two.
788. Did you notice if there were any men on board? Yes, more than ten men were
working at a gun. 789. What sort of men were they? Not Europeans, but what nationality other than
that I cannot say. They were too far away for me to see that.
790. After your junk began to sink by the bows did it still remain afloat so far as the
stern was concerned? That is correct.

791. What happened to Yeung Yat-hei and his family? They came over to our junk. 792. How did they get over to your junk? They came over in a small sampan. 793. How long did you all remain on your junk? Three days and three nights. Then
the craft went ashore.
794. After three days and three nights did you see another junk? No. For three days
and three nights we saw nobody.
795. At the end of the three days and three nights did you see another junk? Yes, one
junk and that junk towed us away.
796. Do you know the name of the master of that other junk that towed you away
Wong Cho-sam.
797. Where did he tow you to? San Mei.

798. Was anyone on board your junk injured or killed? No, nobody was injured
aboard our junk.
799. Does your junk carry any cannon? We had cannon on board but when our
junk was shot at the cannon were dropped overboard.

801. Have you ever fired these cannon? No, we have never had occasion to use these
cannon.

south, east or west, when you first saw it? From a north-westerly direction. 806. That is down the China coast? Yes.
807. You have shown me Lam Fuk-tai and Shek Kai-cheung's junks- tell me how far were these two junks from the pair that was fishing next to them that is Lam Yung-shing and Lam Yung-hei's junks? The nearest pair of junks was Lam Chu's junks.
808. How far away was that? Still very far away-the length of six or seven coils*
of rope.
80g. Was there about the same distance between every pair of fishing junks? Our
junks were a little further away.
810. How far away were you from the nearest other pair of junks? Our junk was
nearest to Fung Hing-wo's junk. The distance was about 4 coils of rope away.
811. Did you remain on deck throughout the whole of this incident until the submarine fired at your own junk? Although I was on deck all the time up to the moment that our junk was shot at I was at work; I did not stop to watch what the others were doing.
