At the point 7.5 miles, 205 from Pedro Blanco,

about 50 miles from Hong Kong, rescued 9 men, 1 woman.

There was no sign that they were attacked by submarine.

The Captain heard nothing from them because the

Captain and the crew never understand these people's

language. At Hong Kong the Captain was never visited

by police or newspaper people, and he was surprised

finding the account of the Japanese submarine in the

newspapers on the following day.

It was officialy stated by the Minister of

Foreign Affairs in Tokio that on the 22nd, on which date

submarine attack was supposed to have taken place, only

a certain number of Japanese submarines were training

off Bakow and all the others were in the home waters.
