In continuation of my despatch No. 63 of the 8th instant, on the subject of the

quation of Chinose nationals from For4O sa,

I have the honour to roport that according to information supplied to me by an officer of the Foreign Section of the G0vamment General,

the Chinese Governaɔnt has chartered the 9.8.

tons, owned by the Holler Line of Shanghai,

and arrangements have been concluded by which

this vessel to make a series of voyages from Takae to Asoy beginning on the 24th instant, until all the Chinese whe wish to go have boon

ovnaunted. The attitudo of the Governmant

General is that any Chinese who wish to leave may do so, but any of good balmviour, who de not so desire, nze equally free to rasain,

My Chinoso colleague still talks of some 30,000 mp wishing to leave, but the my informat atates that only 12,000 have so far mado application, and he ridicules the idea that the figure would appronoh 0,000. of th 12,000 a considerable proportion have already gone, either by Dutch vessels to Amoy, or by Japanope vossals to Hongkong;
