I am directed by Mr. Secretary Eden to refer
61 to your letter No. 53838/2/37 of the 16th October
regarding the repatriation from Hong Kong of the wife and son
of Mr.W. Jarmain, and to inform you that His Majesty's Consul-
General, Shanghai, of whom a telegraphic enquiry was made,
has replied to the effect that the St. George Society
have advanced the cost of the passages to Europe of Mrs.
Jarmain and her son. A letter is accordingly being sent
to Mr. Jarmain informing him of this fact and enquiring
how he proposes to liquidate this debt to the Society,
which amounts to £80.
