With reference to Major Furse's letter of the 7th.April

(53702/36 Hong Kong), I am directed by the Board of Education

to state that the vacancy for a Senior Inspector of English

Schools, Hong Kong, has been brought by the Board to the

attention of certain of their Inspectors. Three members of

the Board's inspecting staff have expressed the desire that

their names should be forwarded as candidates for the

appointment. In these circumstances the Board do not think

that it is necessary at present to take the usual steps

towards securing a candidate for the post by advertisement

and selection.

The three Inspectors of the Board concerned are:-
