"University Employment Committee' should show some signs
of activity. Teaching methods are stereotyped and
arrangements such as interchange of teachers with
Chinese Universities should be considered. Two
candidates are at present selected periodically in
Yunnanfu for scholarships and it is recommended that
this should be extended to Hankow, Tientsin, Amoy and
other places.
Supplementary Confidential Report.
It is a serious defect that the University
is no longer represented on the Committee which controls
the Boxer Indemnity funds.
It is hoped that the "imperial" aspect of the
University may be more fully appreciated by H.M.G. and
that increased support may be given by the Foreign Office
and its representatives in China.
The University must return to the ideal of
its founders of a steady stream of students from China
and back to China.
