ich has 10 students taking the full course assuming in September
the usual two are added. I have one Eurasian assistant who gets
211 (eleven) pounds a month. The Chinese Dept, has a professor,
and two full time assistants though their salaries are lower, but
like ours are on the usual competitive and economic basis. I have
submitted my time table to the Aeroc. of University Teachers for
their comment I cover three subjects History of Education and
Philo ophy of Education for final year students men and women of
24-5 years of age who read widely, five lectures per week together
with essay marking, Psychology for all students in the Arts Faculty
vho wish to take the subject - 3 lectures a week, supervision of
practical teaching which is given over largely to my assistant who
goes round the schools. I criticise and give demonstration lessons
on Thursday afternoons and of course I am in m office from 9.20 to
1 p.. when not lecturing for inerviews, iiscussion etc. night
school (free) which I have persuaded my students to run for the
past six years. Education Society Education Journal and meetings
connected with University activities.
I em President of the
Hon Kong Teachers Assoc. and have been since its foundation 3
years ago. I published two booke last year, have written a paper
for a Conference in Tokyo this year and so on. To say that or to
suggest that my work is inadequate for the University is to my
mind a gross libel, but it is undoubtedly due to the enmity
I have created by my mild assertion of University principles and
ideals. It is particularly galling too as I have done more in the
last two years to put the name of this University on the map than
other members of the staff. I mean academically, I have
