12.--Electric Road-Raising levels (Bay View Police Station to A. King's Slipway), $20,000.-This is to complete the work commenced under the 1937 Budget; it consists of raising this road to town planning levels consequent on the development of the surrounding area.
13.-Wacdonnell Road Bridge-Reconstruction,
$11,000.-The bridge which carries Macdonnell Road over the track of the Peak Tram Co., Ltd. is unsafe for present traffic and reconstruction is required. 14.-Island Road Strengthening bridges, $10,000.-To commence a small reconstruction programme in connection with minor bridges on the Island Road which require strengthening to take present day traffic. 15. Bowen Road-Widening between Garden Road and Bowen Road Tram Station, $10,000. To improve and widen this roadway and to provide a footpath in that section of Bowen Road below Bowen Road Tram Station.
16.---Outpatients' Department, Government Civil Hospital-Access Road, $3.100.-To provide a motor access road from Hospital Road to "C" Block which is to be used as an Outpatients Department and a Health Centre.
17.--Chai Wan Cemetery Extenson-Access Path, $800.-An Access Path
is required to serve a new extension to this cemetery.
MISCELLANEOUS.
18.-Gardeners' Quarters, Sookunpoo--Extension, $1,000.-Extension of one room and kitchen accommodation is urgently required in these quarters which house the gardeners at the Botanical and Forestry vegetable garden at Sookunpoo.
19.-Botanical and Forestry Store, Kennedy Road-Flush Latrine, $1,700.
-To provide a water carriage system to the existing convenience. 20.-Hing Wan Street Latrine, Wanchai, $3,000.-To provide a
carriage system to the existing convenience.

21.--Belcher Street Latrine, $3,500.-To provide a water carriage system
to the existing convenience.
22.-Colonial Cemetery-Laying out new areas, $1,000.-To provide for an extension to the burial area within the existing boundaries of the cemetery.
23.-Chinese Cemeteries-Laying out new areas, $7,000.-To provide for
additional burial areas in the existing cemeteries.
24.-Reinstatement of retaining walls, $2,000.-Government retaining walls are inspected annually and this vote provides for any repair or re-construction required.
25.-Traffic Signs, etc., $3,000.-To meet the cost of such traffic signs and
guide lines as are considered necessary by the Police Department.
26.-Street Name Plates, $2,000.-To cover expenditure required for the
provision of new name plates.
Sub-head 27.--North Point Reclamation-Sewer extension, $5,000. To continue work on the extension of the existing main sewer and storm water drains so that the outfalls can be extended to the line of the finished reclamation.

28. Boat Street-Storm Water Drain, $750.-To complete the work on a drain extension similarily placed to that described in the preceeding item.
29. Sing Woo and Blue Pool Roads Training Nullahs, New Western Branch, $10,000.-The training of this nullah is necessary owing to development of building sites and access roads in the vicinity.
30.-Stanley Village-Sewers, $5,000.-Owing to the development of Stanley Village and in anticipation of this development proceeding it is necessary to commence a drainage scheme for the carrying of
sewage.
31.-Stanley Village Storm Water Drains, $5,000.-The explanation in this item is the same as in the preceeding one except that these are storm water drains.
32. Jubilee Street Ferry Pier Covered Entrance, $1,000.-To complete
this work.
33.----Wongneicheong Development, $20,000.-Owing to the sale of land in this district and to the request that fresh areas be put up for auction, the development of access roads is required. This is to commence that work.
34.-Chai Wan Cemetery Extension-Development, $6,000.-To provide
the necessary extension to this cemetery.
35.-Fence at Glenealy, $1,750.-A small portion of this fence was provided when the entrance gate in Upper Albert Road was closed; an extension of this fence from the old entrance down to the main entrance in the old Botanical Gardens is required.
36. Rewiring of Government Buildings, $8,000.--To replace wiring in Government buildings which is now considered unsafe from a fire point of view.
37.-Colonial Secretariat-Private Telephone System, $2,000.—To provide
a direct inter-office communication in the Secretariat.
38.-Outpatients' Department, Government Civil Hospital-Improvement to Ventilation, $3,000.-Owing to the increased use now being made of the Outpatients' Department, extra ventilation is required.
WATER WORKS.
39.-Back Lane Service Pipes, $3,000.-To provide for the extension of subsidiary service pipes in back lanes in newly developed areas to obviate the excessive cutting of roads which would be necessary for direct connection to principal mains. These subsidiary mains eventually paid for by house owners when connections are requested.
