arrange to hold the estate in suspense until

the will is declared to be invalid.

It is suggested that the Netherlands

Government's intervention, if successful, may

deprive the Hong Kong Government of estate

duty which, according to Dr. Fern, is properly

payable to the Colony, for he insists that the

deceased had a Hong Kong domicile, and that the

will does not stand to be judged by Dutch law,

and therefore ought not to be upset to the

detriment of his clinet, Mrs. Schenk.

Mr. Taylor thought that we should

know this, in case we wished to report the

information to the Government of Hong Kong.

I imagine that the Colonial Government

can form its own opinion as to whether or not

or amonaalse any intervention by the Netherlands Government

on these grounds is sound, and that they will

be alive to the protection of their own

interests.

Dr. Fern is acting, no doubt, with

a simple thought to his client's interest, and

I doubt myself whether we need take any steps

at all in the matter.
