With reference to Lord Passfield's despatch
No. 151 dated the 2nd June, 1930, I have the honour
in accordance with Colonial Regulation No. 278 to
request your approval of the writing off of the sum
of $1,074.30.

On the 30th March, 1937, a Chinese clerk
employed by the Medical Department and an unarmed
Indian guard who accompanied him were attacked on
the road leading to the Victoria Hospital by a band
of men armed with heavy poles. They were overpowered
and a bag containing cash and cheques intended for
payment of the salaries of the Hospital Staff was
carried off by the robbers.

The sum in question represents the amount
stolen less the cheques and fifty eight cents in
cash recovered.
