10. The position with regard to contributions from the territories mentioned above may be summarised us follows; -
Straits Settlements A contribution fixed at $4,000,000 e year (£47,000) is paid, subject to revision after 31st March, 1938. The whole of this contribution is credited to Army Votes. In addition a voluntary contribution of $500,000 towards the cost of Imperial defence has been made each year since 1934, and 1/5th of this (£17,500) has been credited to Air Votes. The Governor bes, however, intimated that, in order not to create an embarrassing precedent, the voluntary contribution or A staturɔry grant gift may not be repeated in 1937.
