Sir,
I have the honour to refer to
Sir William Peel's secret despatch of the
22nd October, 1934, and to inform you that
the terms of transfer of land in Hong Kong
which is, or may be, in the future, required
for the use of the Royal Air Force, have
been under discussion with His Majesty's
Treasury and the Air Ministry.

I appreciate that the Colonial
Government has always shown itself keenly
alive to the importance of defence questions,
and has co-operated generously in the
provision of lands necessary for defence
purposes; it is not necessary for me to say
that I am anxious for this co-operation to
continue.
