59. LIFE-JACKETS:-One approved life-jacket shall be carried for each person on board.

GROUP I CLASS 12.

60. The requirements as to life saving appliances Group I. Class 12 shall be specified under the heading complied with by tugs and salvage ships which proceed beyond River Trade Limits.
61. DAVITS -All boats shall be attached to davits.
62. BOATS:—A ship of this Class shall carry on each side of the ship lifeboats of Class 1 in such number and of such aggregate capacity as will accommodate the full number of sea-going crew.
Provided that the Government Marine Surveyor may, at his discretion, relieve ships so employed previous to 1st March, 1935, from the full requirements of this regulation. where lifeboats of Class 1 are carried on each side of the ship in such number and of such aggregate capacity as will accommodation at least 75 per cent of the full number of sea-going crew.
63. BUOYANT APPARATUS:-In the case of ships to which the proviso of the foregoing regulation applies, ap- proved buoyant apparatus shall be carried so that the accom- modation provided by the lifeboats on each side of the ship together with the buoyant apparatus shall be sufficient for the full sea-going crew.

If work-people are carried in addition to the sea-going crew, approved buoyant apparatus sufficient for all such additional persons shall be carried.
64. EQUIPMENT FOR LIFEBOATS:-All boats forming part of the statutory life saving appliances of every ship of this Class shall be provided with the full equipment for life- boats specified in the Instructions, except that only half the number of side ladders need be provided.
65. LIFE-BUOYS:-Every ship of this Class shall carry at least six approved life-buoys,
Not less than three life-buoys shall have attached self- igniting lights which cannot be extinguished in water.
66. LIFE-JACKETS :-Every ship of this Class shall carry one approved life-jacket for each person on board.
67. LINE-THROWING APPLIANCES:-Every ship of this Class of 500 tons gross tonnage and upwards shall carry an approved type of line-throwing appliance.
GROUP I CLASS 13.

68. The requirements as to life saving appliances specified under the heading " Group 1. Class 13 shall be complied with by ships plying within River Trade Limits which are not certified for the carriage of passengers.

69. DAVITS --All boats shall be attached to davits.
70. BOATS:-A ship of this Class shall carry boats of Class 3 in such number and of such aggregate capacity as' will accommodate all persons on board.
Half the total cubic capacity required shall be placed on each side of the ship.
If it appears to the Government Marine Surveyor on the application of the owner of a ship of this class, that it is not practicable or reasonable to comply with the latter require- ment, the Government Marine Surveyor may authorise such relaxation as he may think fit, subject to such conditions, if any, as he may require.
