38. LIFE-BUOYS :-The minimum number of approved life-buoys with which ships of Group I. Class 7 are to be provided is as follows:-

39. LIFE-JACKETS:-One approved life-jacket shall be carried for each person on board.

GROUP I. CLASS 8.

40. The requirements as to life saving appliances specified under the heading "Group I. Class 8 8" shall be complied with by ships, plying within River Trade Limits, which are certified for the carriage of passengers.

41. DAVITS-A ship of this class shall be provided with sets of davits as specified in Column (A) of Table No. 11.

The number of sets of davits and the boat capacities of ships not provided for in the Table shall be prescribed by the Government Marine Surveyor.

42. BOATS AND BUOYANT APPARATUS:-Each set of davits shall have a boat of Class 3 attached to it.

The total cubic capacity of the boats under the davits shall be at least up to the minimum capacity required by Column (H).

One boat of half the total capacity required shall be placed on each side of the ship.

Approved buoyant apparatus shall be provided so that the accommodation provided by the boats and buoyant ap- paratus shall be sufficient for 40 per cent of the total number of persons the ship is certified to carry.

43. EQUIPMENT FOR BOATS:-Every boat forming part of the statutory life saving appliances of any ship of Group I. Class 8 shall be provided with the full equipment for life boats specified in the Instructions, subject to the following exceptions:-

Sea Anchor, Breakers, Dipper, Side Ladders, Mast, Mast and rigging fittings, Sails, Oil, Oil bag, Red lights, Biscuits, Condensed milk, Compasses.

44. LIFE-BUOYs:-The minimum number of approved life-buoys with which ships of Group I. Class 8 are to be provided is as follows:-
