The engines in the Engine-shed, about ten in
number were those which are in daily use and had
up. Caly the most minor of running repairs are done
here and a steam engine supplies power for very dim
lighting and for a mall lathe.
Attached to the building is the mall parts
store. In answer to a question by Mr. Calder-Marshall
Mr. Cheng stated that whereas the metal for certain
parts cost $1.50 and contained only 8 per cent of tin,
they were able to make it themselves for 80 cents per

point that Mr. Cheng started to speak of the sparing
way in which they had to conduct the repair shops

month were $27, and that shortage of funds made it
imponsible to increase this.
