With reference to your letter of the 28th

December, 1935 (M.04287/35) regarding the territorial

waters of Hong Kong, I am directed by Mr.Secretary

Thomas to request you to inform the Lords Commissioners

of the Admiralty that he coneurs in the proposal to

authorise the insertion in the China Station Order

Book of the definition of the Colony contained in

Hong Kong Ordinance No. 31 of 1911, together with a

note to the effect that His Vajesty'e Government does

not claim jurisdiction over any part of the sea area

included in the definition, but that it claims the

usual territorial rights over the waters bordering the

territories of the Colony.

It should be clearly understood at the

same time, that any islands incluied in the area

defined
