CIRCULAR No. 6.

With reference to Circular No. 86 dated 28th ultimo

giving notice that a temporary levy on both sterling and

dollar salaries was being considered to take effect from

1st January, 1936, the Secretary of State for the Colonies

has now approved of the following scheme.

1.

Sterling Salaries.

On

(1) No levy on salaries not exceeding £240 per annum. salaries above that figure, 21% on first £240, 5% on next £360, 71% on next £400, 10% on next £400 and 123% on remaining

portion of salary above £1,400 per annum.

always provided that this levy shall not operate so as to reduce the salary of any officer below £240 per annum or, for those contributing to Widows' or Orphans' Pension Scheme

Pension Scheme deduction).

(11) Rate of conversion for all salaries shall be $-1s./6d. in respect of the period 1st January to 31st March.

Widows'

and Orphans' Pension Contribution must, in accordance with the Ordinance be calculated on the full sterling salary and con- verted at the prevailing monthly Treasury rate.

Advances,

Homo allotments and sterling refunds will similarly be con- verted at the prevailing Treasury rate. The rate of exchange
