THE HUMBLE PETITION OF THE UNDER-
SIGNED CHINESE CIVIL SERVANTS OF
THE COLONY OF HONG KONG.
1. Your Petitioners are representative of all
branches of the Chinese Civil Servants, employed by the
Government of Hong Kong, and whose emoluments and allow-
ances are paid wholly in local dollar currency.

The total number of such Chinese Civil Servants,
which is roughly 3,500, may be divided into certain main
categories such as Chinese Medical Officers, Inspectors
of Vernacular Schools, Junior Clerical Service, Anglo-
Chinese Assistant Kasters, Asiatic Sanitary Inspectors,
Wireless Operators, Surveyors, Draughtsmen, Railway Station
Masters, Motor Drivers, Telegraphist-Computers, Wireless
Technicians, Telephone Operators, Hospital Dressers and
Nurses, Coxswains and Boatmen, Launch Engineers, P. W. D.
Foremen, Gardeners, Revenue Officers, Police Officers,
Watchmen, Office Attendants, and a general body of employees whose salaries are subject to the temporary levy.
