With reference to my note (F 1085/379/10) of 27th
February, and previous correspondence regarding the
smuggling of counterfeit coinage from South China into
the Netherlands Best Indies, I have the honour to inform
you that it is intended so to amend the law of Hong
Kong relating to the possession of counterfeit foreign
currency as to bring it into conformity with that of the
United Kingdom.
The effect of this messure will be to
provide for the imposition of stringent penalties upon
an offender convicted of the possession of foreign
counterfeit coin with an intent to utter the sane.
