Hong Kong, as shown above, stands to lose much
Apart from the fact that the Registry fees are
on a higher scale than those of the Foreign Office, there
has to be considered the annual fee of 4 cents per $100
of paid up capital.
There are so many uncertain factors involved that
I think any figures worked out cannot be regarded as much
more than guess work.

It is not possible to give a really reliable
figure of the loss of revenue which the proposed new
legislation may cause, but the figures given by Mr. Lee
might be passed on to Peking as some guide. The total
fees collected by the Registry of Companies at Shanghai
on behalf of the Hongkong Government amounts to about
Hk.$200,000 a year.
