China and the operation of which is con-

trolled from within the Colony shall be

allowed to operate in China without the

consent of the Ambassador:

(6) The Ambassador may as the condition of

such consent require that the chief local

representative and two-thirds of the

persons having authority to sign on behalf

of the company in China shall be British

subjects:

If such a company operates in China without

the consent of the Ambassador or if the

conditions set out in paragraph (b) are

not complied with, the chief local represen-

tative and the persons having authority to

sign on behalf of the company in China, if

they are subject to consular jurisdiction,

and the company itself shall be guilty of

an offence and shall be liable to a fine

for every day during which such offence

continues:

If any such China company operates in China

without the consent of the Ambassador or if

the conditions set out in paragraph (b) are

not complied with an order for winding up of

such company may be made by the Consular

Court:
