I regret to report that both cars have given considerable mechanical trouble during the year, and it has been necessary to
purchase new magnotos for each car, a new battery and a new
carburettor for No.3 Car. The primary cause of the mechanical
trouble of the cars is the fact that they are left in the open and
exposed to all weathers. Canvas bonnet covers are now being made
and it is hoped that they will prove beneficial. I would again
urged that covered accommodation be provided for the cars as soon as
sufficient funds are available.
Training. Attendance at parades and at Camp has been
satisfactory, including a 100, "turn-out" at the Combined
Operations.
Training of all men as both gunners and drivers is being
continuod. Instructions has been given in:-
Driving, Mechanical Maintenance of the Cars, Towing and
Salvago of Broken-down vehicles, Vickors Gunnory, Revolver
firing, kifle practicos, Topography, Map keading, Crow
Drill and Gas Drill.
During the Annual Camp firing practices wore carried out
with the Vickers Guns mounted in the cars, both at the halt and on
the move.
Recruiting for this unit was not encouraged during the
year owing to the improbably of obtaining further Armoured Cars
in the near futuro. I consider a strength of 24 sufficient until
further cars are available.
