Subs-head 12.-Magazine Gap Road, Road widening and car park at junction of Bowen Road, $8,000.—To open up the line of this road at its junction with Bowen Road and to provide an area for parking a small number of cars.

13. Garden Road widening, $24,000.—To widen the portion of this road at the Lower Peak Tram Station and provide a parking area for private and public vehicles-the removal and resiting of the present chair coolie shelter and latrine is a part of this scheme.

14. Electric Rond, raising levels, $20,000.-Consequent on the develop- ment of the area surrounding this road to higher levels and following the completion of King's Road it is necessary to raise the road to a corresponding level. The sum allowed will meet approximately half the cost.

15.-Shek Tong Tsui Market, Latrine conversion to flush. $1.000.-To

provide a water carriage system to the existing dry latrine.

16.-Kan Wah Street, $10,000,-To provide a public convenience in this

part of Shaukiwan,

17.-Jubilee Street Pier, covered entrance, $10,000.-To provide covered

ways in the concourse in front of this pier.

18.-Government Quarry, Roofing Plant, $5,000.-In order to protect the

Ransome mixing plant at Tsat Tse Mui Government Quarry.

19.-Colonial Cemetery, Laying out new areas. $1,000.-To provide for an

extension to the burial area within the boundaries of the cemetery.

20.-Chinese l'emeteries, Laying out new areas, $8,000.-To provide for

additional burial areas in existing cemeteries.

21.-Re-instatement of Retaining Walls, $2,000.-Government Retaining Walls are inspected annually and this vote provides for any repair or re-construction required.

22.-Traffic Signs, etc., $3,000. To meet the cost of such traffic signs as

are considered necessary by the Police Department.

23.-Street Name Plates, $2,000.-To cover expenditure required for the

provision of new name plates.

24.-Sing Woo and Blue Pool Roads, Training Nullah, $5,000.—To complete the construction of this section of the Nullah in Sing Woo Road near its junction with Blue Pool Road.

25. Sing Woo and Blue Pool Roads, Sewer Extension, $2,000.-To complete the sewer to which is connected Inland Lots Nos. 3685 and 3686. The sewer will be capable of taking sewage from further developments in the area.

26. North Point Reclamation, Sewer Extensions, $5,000.-To extend the existing main sewer and storm water drains to their new outfalls in the line of the finished reclamation, Work is occasioned by the extension of the reclamation area between the present outfalls.

27. Boat Street, Sewer Extension, $5,750.—The necessity for this work

1s of a similar nature to that in the preceding item.

Sub-head 28.—Electric Road, Sewer Extension, $7,000.--The work comprises the extension of the existing sewer which takes the sewage from Tai Hang Village and the developments above. The present outfall is in Causeway Bay Typhoon Refuge and it is proposed to connect this discharge to an existing sewer which has an outfall situated outside the shelter. The extension of this sewer is not possible until the raising of the road level, sub-hoad 24, is put in hand.

WATER WORKS.

29.-Back Lane Service Pipes, $3,000.-To provide for the extension of subsidiary service pipes in back lanes in newly developed properties to obviate the excessive cutting of roads which would be necessary for direct connection to principal mains. These subsidiary mains are eventually paid for by house owners when connections are requested.

30.-Stanley Supply, $3,000.-For payment of retention money. 31.-Repulse Bay Supply, $5,000.—The present storage tank at Repulse Bay has a capacity of 10,000 gallons. This is inadequate as the daily consumption is approximately 50,000 gallons. The erection of a new tank of that capacity is proposed.

32.-Blue Pool Road, Relaying 6′′ main, $1,000.--To relay the main on a

new line so as to permit of further building development in the area.

PORT WORKS.

33.-Nerth Point, Reclamation Extension, $18,000.-To provide for the extension of the sea and nullah walls on part of the existing Rubble Mound. This wall will protect dumping already done and provide a further area for the deposition of building debris.

34.-Blake Pier Improvements, $4,000.-A closer examination of the pier subsequent to that on which the original estimate of $10,000 was based has resulted in the estimate being increased to $14,000. The pier is about 40 years old and considerable amount of renewal of constructional steel work is required owing to becoming defective by gradual corrosion. 35.-Kennedy Town, Construction of Seawall and Cattle Pier, $10,000.— The completion of this work has been delayed owing to settlement which has taken place in the completed work. It is intended to delay operations until this settlement has ceased.

BUILDINGS ORDINANCE.

36.--Compensation and Resumptions, $10.000.-This vote is to cover expenditure incurred in connection with resumption of private property fronting on roads which require either widening or realignment.

ANTI-MALARIAL WORKS.

87.-Anti-Malarial Works, $50,000.—This vote is for anti-malarial work in Hong Kong. It provides for the training of stream courses, and draining of swamps to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.
