on the 10th December and, informally, by the Finance Committee of my Legislative Council on the 15th December. Both bodies agreed unanimously that assistance from this Government should take the form of an annual grant of a sum equivalent to three per cent on whatever amount is raised as an endowment fund by voluntary subscription, but with the restriction that Government's commitments in any one year
shall not exceed the sum of $15,000.
As you will observe from the circular letter of appeal enclosed, $125,000 has already been subscribed, but it is not intended that any grant from Government funds shall be made in respect of the current year. A supplementary vote for the amount required will, subject to your approval, be taken in 1937, and in accordance with the instructions contained in despatch No.123
