Enclosure No. 2.
COPY.
Detective Office,
Police Headquarters.
27.4.36.
Assistant Director Criminal Investigation (C).
Sir,
I attach a certified copy of the Cable which
was sent to Mrs. Badger on the 9th January, 1936. The number
of words was twenty three at $1. 825 per word, deferred rate.
The Superintendent of the Great Northern
Telegraph Company informs me that the rate of sending is
internationally based on the gold franc. However, this rate
does not apply to England, where the rate is based on the £1.
sterling.
This means that it is considerably cheaper to
send a cable from England to any country abroad, than say from
Hong Kong to England.
The exchange problem often gives rise to queries
from England.
I also saw Mr. Andrews, Accountant at the
Supreme Court, who paid the amount.
(Sgd.) M.J. Flattery.
Sub-Inspector.
