With further reference to Sir Thomas Southorn's
despatch No.480 of the 21st August, 1935, regarding the theft of 40,000 detonators from Green Island Dangerous Goods Depôt,
I have the honour to enclose for your information:-
2.
(i)
(ii)
A Police report with enclosures dated 7th
August, 1935.
A further report dated 11th September, 1935,
from the Inspector General of Police. (iii) A photograph taken on the day after the
discovery of the theft.
(iv)
Copy of minutes from the Inspector General
of Police dated 6th January and 9th June,
1936, respectively.
It will be observed that owing to the difficulty
of identifying the detonators the Police have not been able
to establish the identity of the criminals.
3.
With a view to better protection of the stores kept at the Green Island Depôt new Standing Orders have been
issued which I consider will adequately safeguard the stores
in question.
