With reference to my despatch No.78 of the 6th

February, 1936, I have the honour to report that I have

granted to the Honourable Sir Henry Edward Pollock, Kt.,

K.C., LL.D., member of the Legislative Council, leave of

absence from the Colony from the 29th May to the 6th

November, 1936.

2. Sir Henry Pollock was appointed as the nominee

of the Justices of the Peace and the usual arrangements

were made for the selection of his successor. Mr. Marcus

Theodore Johnson's name was the only nomination and I have

accordingly appointed him provisionally, and subject to

His Majesty's pleasure, to be temporarily an unofficial

member of the Legislative Council during Sir Henry Pollock's

absence.

A copy of the instrument appointing Mr. Johnson

is enclosed.

In accordance with Colonial Regulation No.155

I enclose also a list of the present members of the

Legislative Council.
