Sir,
With reference to my despatch No.78 of the 6th
February, 1936, I have the honour to report that I have
granted to the Honourable Sir Henry Edward Pollock, Kt.,
K.C., LL.D., member of the Legislative Council, leave of
absence from the Colony from the 29th May to the 6th
November, 1936.
2. Sir Henry Pollock was appointed as the nominee
of the Justices of the Peace and the usual arrangements
were made for the selection of his successor. Mr. Marcus
Theodore Johnson's name was the only nomination and I have
accordingly appointed him provisionally, and subject to
His Majesty's pleasure, to be temporarily an unofficial
member of the Legislative Council during Sir Henry Pollock's
absence.
3.
A copy of the instrument appointing Mr. Johnson
is enclosed.
4.
In accordance with Colonial Regulation No.155
I enclose also a list of the present members of the
Legislative Council.
