Kowloon city residents are not being removed to
Ya Chien-wei but to prepare site at Kakhang within the town
planning area about quarter of a mile from Kowloon city. I
inspected both places personally yesterday and cannot cancel
or suspend orders which are dictated by sanitary principles.
Residents agreed to move and compensation enables them to
build houses on the new site where foundations are already
being dug. Nobody is holding out and 2,000 dollars already
paid in first instalments of compensation;
ments will be paid as building progresses.
admirable and conveniently situated; evacuated Kowloon city
area converted into public park. Ends.
