MACHINE GUN TROOP.
Officer Commanding
8.
Captain A.H. Potts.
Owing to many tranffers to other ports the strength of the
it has declined, but all those remaining have shown great
keanness. The Troop turned out on the king's Birthday Parade 100%
and for the Military Tattoo in November turned out a section for
the Modern Warfare episode.
The Dowbiggin Trophy point-to-point was run in April and
was won by Trooper Lammert and during the Gymkhana held in October
it was awarded for the best aggregate made in jumping and tent
pegging and was won by Captain Potts:
The Troop guarded three beaches during the Combined
Operations.
Troop drill, Riding School instruction and Pack Saddle
drill have been regularly carried out, and all ranks have been
instructed in the use of the Vickers Guns.
The ponies, 32 in number, are all in excellent condition.
ARMOURED CAR SECTION.
Officer Commanding 2nd Lieut. G.C. Moutrie.
FERSONNEL. At the commencement of the year the strength was
1 Officer and 28 men. It is now 1 Officer and 21 men.
VEHICLES. There are at present on charge two Thorney croft
A. F. V's. each carrying two Vickers Guns. Both cars are periodically
inspected by the I.M.T. (12th Company, R.A.S.C.), and Report Books
maintained for each. They have performed satisfactorily. Slight
mechanical trouble has been experienced with the newer car, which
is now being investigated by the makers.
TRAINING. Throughout the year attendance at parades and at
Camp has been satisfactory, in view of business considerations
having prevented many men from turning out on several occasions.
Training of all men as both gunners and drivers is being continued,
and all those qualified to fire M.G. Course, Part II ("Second-year "
gunners obtained their "M.G." badges as first class gunners.
