Enclosure 6 in Canton Despatch to Peking No. 117 of 18th August, 1955

Shameen, Canton, 7th August,1935.

Sir,

I regret Benares Khan, the poor Indian who deposited $100.00 about two months ago, to go to Hongkong to get his employment, which is ready, offered by the guarantor Firdoz

Khan in Hongkong, is still aimlessly wandering here. The

Hongkong Police refuses guarantee by Firdoz Khan to employ Benares Khan, but is willing to accept some other party's

guarantee. The poor man says it is easy to get security

outside, but they are unable to provide any employment to him. But Firdoz Khan has already deposited guarantee, and is capable

of finding him a job at once, as he is rich, owns motor-car, and

supplies watchmen and labourers, to the P. & 0., Dollar and

Empress Lines, and German Mail, It is a pity employment for

this poor man is ready and yet he is not allowed to have it, albeit #100.00 deposited, and security positively promised to the Police in Hongkong when they had guarantor before them. When he reiterated to give him employment, and in no way would allow the man to be stranded in Hongkong, and it is strange the Hongkong Police still objecta.

I request you once again to write to Hongkong Police, stating the facts and a favourable word to reconsider the

matter and allow the man to go to Hongkong.

Thanking you for the trouble, I am obliged to give you,

for the man, who is not a bad man, but has hard luck, and is

entitled to some kind consideration.

H. Phillips Esq., C.M.G., O.B. &.

H.B.M. Consul-General,

Shameen.

I am, etc.

(Signed) H.8. Kavarana.
