Children below the age of four years to be carried free if accompanied by an adult. British service men (in uniform) and children below the age of twelve years to be carried 1st class at 2nd class rates (if any), but full fare may be charged when travelling 2nd class or in a single class vehicle.

Police Officers and Postmen, on duty, shall be carried free of charge.

Licence is hereby granted (subject nevertheless to the conditions set forth hereunder) to

whose registered office is situate at

in the Colony of Hong Kong, (which company and its permitted transferees are where not inapplicable hereinafter included under the designation "the Licensee ") to establish and maintain, to the exclu- sion of other persons, companies and corporations, a service or services of motor buses for the transport of persons by road in the whole of the Island of Hong Kong wherefor payment is made for the seat occupied by the passenger so transported, as distinguished from the hiring of a vehicle, for a period of fifteen years commencing on the 11th day of June, 1933, but subject as herein appearing: Provided that, at the request of the Licensee, the Governor in Council may, for such reasons as he shall or may consider sufficient, at any time during the subsistence of the licence extend such licence for a period not exceeding twelve months at any one time. Provided also that such extensions shall not in any case exceed in the whole a period of three years.

Provided also that no delay in the commencement

of the service or interruption, taking over or suspension thereof shall extend the period contemplated by this licence.

The licence is granted upon and is supported by and based upon representations made by the Licensee, and confirmed by him by the acceptance indorsed upon the original and duplicate licence, that the majority of the partners or directorate of the Licensee com- pany are and will at material times continue to be British subjects, and that the management and the administrative staff or an effective majority thereof, to the satisfaction of the Governor in Council, are and will be British subjects; and that the control of the service or services to be provided and maintained will be within the Colony and essentially British; and that at all times and in all circumstances (in- cluding any and every emergency) the Government may be assured that the said service or services will so far as reasonably possible be duly and loyally maintained; and that the situation as above will con- tinue and be observed with the utmost good faith during the subsist- ence of this licence and any and every extension thereof (if any). Such representations (including the undertakings contained therein) are and shall be the basis of this licence, and if it shall at any time appear to the Governor in Council that any such representation or undertaking has failed and no longer supports this licence then and
