IMPORTANT.
Regret to inform you that Southorn admitted to hospital
last night and has been successfully operated on for
appendicitis to-day. Tratman still incapacitated as
reported in Southorn's air mail despatch No.485 of 27th
August. By virtue of article seventeen of Letters Patent
I have as acting Colonial Secretary to-day assumed
administration and taken prescribed oaths before Executive
Council in presence of Chief Justice.
