Animal Parasites of Hogs, Goats, and Buffaloes from Hong Kong 103

of hogs (Sus scrofa domestica), goats (Capra hircus), and buffaloes (Bos buffelus and Bos indicus). Altogether approximately three hundred animals were examined. Results show that twenty different kinds of parasites were found during the survey. The present report is of preliminary nature and aims to give only a list of these parasites.

In addition to the nine species listed in the above table there are two other species of nematodes of which only the females were recovered, and consequently an identification is at present impossible. One species was found in the heart and lungs, while the other was found in the small

intestine.

* This is the larval form of Taenia hydatigena (Pallas, 1766), the adult of which is commonly found in dogs in China.

In addition to these seven species listed in the above table, there is a single specimen of an undetermined female nematode, which is probably a strongyloid.

III. GOATS.

Only three species of parasites were recovered from the goats, two of which are nematodes, namely, Trichostrongylus colubriformis (Giles, 1892) and Oesophagostomum sp. Both of these occur in the small intestine and were found in less than ten per cent. of the animals examined. third species, probably immature specimens of Cotylophoron cotylophorum, were commonly found in the stomach of the host.
