Like Ir Clauson, I also had read,

without deriving much edification, the

Report of the Commission. One of the few

concrete recommendations which I found

in it related to the extension of the

licensing hours; a proposal to bring

comfort to the thirsty, but hardly to

restore confidence to a trading commun-

ity suffering from depression. Similarly

I doubt whether the establishment of a

Travel Asociation is likely to balance

the loss of much transshipment trade; but

we can leave the decision as to a grant

to the Legislative Council, within the

limits proposed by ir Gent.
