(18) No.53557/35 of the 9th July and in confirmation of my

telephone message of yesterday afternoon, I write to say
that a meeting of the inter-departmental conference to
discuss the possibility of reinforcing the measures at
present taken to combat piracy off the China coast will
be held in the Small Conference Room, Admiralty (Room 54, Hest Block, First Floor) - at 11 a.m. on wednesday next,
the 24th July.
2. I enclose herewith copies of the reports and
recommendations of the Commander-in-Chief, China, arising
out of the Tungchow" piracy. Sir John Brennan's report,
to which the Commander-in-Chief refers in para.15 of his submission No.494/1034 dated the 28th March, you have
already received from the Foreign Office under cover of their official letter No.F.2083/694/10 of the 24th April.
You will also find among the enclosures a list of the
principal heads under which we anticipate the discussion
will fall.
3. I am sending similar letters to Kitson of the
Foreign Office and Graham of the Board of Trade.
