TRANSLATION:
With reference to the piracy of the "Tungchow",since the
capture of Fan Ah Sui, from his statements information has been
obtained in regard to the names and native places of the various
pirates. Since then secret detectives have been despatched in
different directions to effect their arrest. The facts relating
to action taken are as follows:-
1. On the 27th of February, upon secret information received
stating that the chief of the gang was in hiding in the villages in the neighbourhood of Sam Boon Kwan, troops were immediately despatched on board the gunboat "u Feng" to proceed to the place to effect his capture. The said pirate chie? had escaped one day
previously.
2.
On the 7th of March upon secret information received
stating that the remnant members of the gang had fled to and
were hiding at the villages along the places known as Kiu Ling,
Kiu Har on the border of the Hoifung and Wai Young districts,
troops were immediately sent to surround the area and institute
very thorough searones. Nothing was found.
3. On the 9th of March, upon secret information being again
received stating that the remnant members of the gang were in
hiding in the Sai Cham Vi Vilage in the 3rd section of Wai
Yeung District, troops were immediately despatched the very
night to surround the place and ef ect arrest. The bandits
had got word a few hours ahead and escaped without being caught.
4. As the gang were abstдy natives of Num Shan Village, on
the 15th karen, jointly with the Magistrate of Wai Yeung, Num
Shan was visited and a meeting of the village elders called.
