Colonial Office,
sir,
Downing Street,
7 August, 1936.

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your despatch No. 347 of the 4th of June, in which
you enclosed copies of the Report of the Director of
Education for the year 1935. I have to inform you
that in due course I propose to communicate copies
of the Report to my Advisory Committee for their
consideration, but before doing so I believe that it
would be convenient for the Committee to be placed
in possession at the same time of information as to
the present situation with regard to the adoption of
the various recommendations of Mr. E. Burney in his
Report on Education in liong Kong, which were the subject
of Mr. Kalcolm Macħonald's despatch No.309 of the 9th
of August 1935.
2. I desire to give the Advisory Committee an
opportunity to consider the Report under acknowledgment
at their forthcoming meeting in the latter part of
October, and therefore I should be obliged if you would
furnish me not later than the middle of October with
your detailed observations on Mr. Burney's recommendations

SIR ANDREW CALDECOTT, C.M.G.,C.B.E.
