(3) telegrams Nos. 57 and 58. Hong Kong Government takes its * ?.(2)
stand on Order in Council of 27th December 1899 and unless
otherwise instructed by Ilis Majesty's Government cannot admit
that the Chinese Government has any rights over Kowloon City.
I suggest that Wai Chiao Pu be informed that there
has been no intimidation and that this Government expects
inhabitants who accepted its very generous terms loyally to
adhere to their acceptance.

Thew has been no unnecessary issue on the point
to attend
of frequent summonses to Kowloon City residents
District Officer and travelling expenses are paid by this
Government.

on a motorable road and only just over one mile from
Kowloon City.
