I should be grateful if Your Excellency would be

good enough to inform me of the nature of the replies

returned by there two Governments to the French Government's

representations, if any were addressed to them.

Should

the French Government on enquiry reach the conclusion

that the attitude of the Belgian and of the Swiss Governments

ie open to queution in as far as it is divergent from that

of other Governments concerned it would be a cause of great

satisfaction to tle likjesty'o dovernment if the French

Government would be prepared to instruct their diplomatic representatives to support the action taken by His Majesty's Ambassador in Brussels end by His Majesty's Minister in

a communication to the United States Government in the sense

of this note, setting out the nature of the replies which have been received, and suggesting that if the replies of the Belgian and of the piss Governments appear to them in the same light ea to His Majesty's Government, support should also be given by the United States Government to His Majesty's Government's representations referred to in paragraph & above.
