(g) Annexe, paragraph 6, line 6. Replace "instructed" by "advised".

(3). I understand that you will consult the Service Departments about the words in brackets in paragraph (2) if they are retained, as they suggest that the Service Departments can influence the acceptance of contracts for the supply of arms to other countries.

(4). In line 2 of paragraph (2) 2, the word "export" might be replaced by "issue licences for the export of" as the reference is presumably to exports by private firms ro rather than to exports by Government Departments.

(5). We allow fairly large consignments of cartridges to go to Madsens of Denmark for the testing of machine guns, so the first words of line 4 of paragraph (2) 2 might read "the case of material for testing purposes, samples

(6). Paragraph (2) 6, line 6. "Some" might be inserted before "other" to indicate that the practice of consulting foreign representatives is not widespread. I think it

applies only in the case of Spain and Portugal.

(7). Your description of circumstances attending the application of Gellatly, Hankey & Co.Ltd., to export cart- ridges to the Hejazi Government (paragraph 3 of the Annexe) does not quite agree with the information in our papers.
