With reference to your letter of 13th June 1935, No.53547/35 concerning the removal of the aerial ropeway
which traverses the Arsenal Yard, Hong Kong, I am commanded
by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you
for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies that My Lords fully support the views of the Army
Letter
Council expressed in War Office of the 9th September 1935 (a copy of which has been sent to you) and are unable to find any grounds upon which it would be equitable for the loss or expenditure in this matter to fall on Naval Funds
2. My Lords hope that in the light of the arguments
advanced in the War Office letter, the Secretary of State
will be able to prevail upon the Hong Kong Government to release the £5000 temporarily withheld from the final
settlement of the agreed payment.
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office,
S.W.1.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
AUR.
