Provision made in Estimates (page 101 sub-head 19)..$ 50,000

The amount provided in the 1934 Estimates is insufficient to meet the anticipated expenditure on this work, up to the end of the year.

The full cost of the work was estimated to be $122,500, and it is expected that the work will be completed by the end of 1934, so the sum of $4,000 as retention money has been allowed for, in the 1935 Estimates. The revised estimated cost for the completion of the work, apart from the retention money, is $118,000. Of this sum $50,000 is approved in 1934 Estimates, $55,000 has been received from the Trust & Reality Co., and utilized in 1934, and $3,556 was spent in 1933. An additional sum of $9,444 is therefore required to meet 1934 expenditure.

$15,000 was provided in 1933 Estimates, but the sum of $3,556 only was spent, of the balance $11,444, a revote of $9,444 is requested.

The above is to be met from savings under Head 34, sub-head 18 (1934 Estimates page 101 sub-head 18).

Provision made in Estimates (page 101 sub-head 24) $ 60,000

The provision made in the 1934 Estimates is insufficient to meet the anticipated expenditure on this work to the end of the year.

Owing to increased walling due to re-alignment and the faulty nature of the ground encountered, and the necessity for deeper foundations to retaining walls already constructed and passed, due to saturation by heavy rains during July, August and September, it is estimated that the cost of the work will be increased by $7,350.
