His Excellency the Governor has the honour to present for the consideration of the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council the items (Nos. 149 to 161 of 1934 and Nos. 24 to 26 of 1935) of supplementary expenditure set out below.

The supplementary vote of $200 applied for on December 20th, 1934, proved to be insufficient as the Crown Agents' commitments were in excess of the amount estimated, and a further supplementary vote for $96 is requested.

The amount provided was exceeded owing to overlapping of staff at the beginning of the year prior to departure of Mr. E. H. WILLIAMS on long leave, and also owing to the department having to meet the salary of a Land Bailiff replacing one gone on long leave.
The above is to be met from savings under 6, District Office, North (1934 Estimates page 20 sub-head 5).

The estimate for this expenditure was the same as for 1933 when 711 officers drew allowances. In 1934 this number increased to 795 resulting in an excess expenditure of $12,700.
A certain number of officers have been transferred from daily labour sheets to permanent establishment and qualified for rent allowances.

On receipt of the Crown Agents account for December, 1934, it was found that this vote had been exceeded by $2.24. A supplementary vote for $3.00 is therefore requested.

Expenses incurred by the Crown Agents were higher than anticipated and on receipt of their account for December, 1934, it was found that the vote had been exceeded by $104.33. A supplementary vote for $105 is therefore requested.
