Air Ministry benefited by the fact that
this was estimated to shorten by two
years the time taken to complete the
Kai Tak aerodrome.

Nevertheless no adjustment of the
LUK Gord:
Imperial contribution was made.

According to the terms agreed at
the time the aerodrome was the joint property
of the Colony and of the Air Ministry, apart

from the 28 acres at the eatern end reserved
for the R.A.F. and the 12 acres at the
western end reserved for the civil aviation

buildings, etc. The Imperial grant was
made subject to three conditions, as follows:-
(1) that the lay-out and development of the
aerodrome should be approved by the Air
Ministry:

that it should be made available without
rent or other charges other than
necessary maintenance for the
accommodation of any air units which may
in future be stationed there;
