I have the honour to state that I have been
informed that the Air Officer Oommanding, Far East,
been instructed to endeavour to obtain possessi on of a
site for an operational aerodrome at Pathoung in the
New Territories in pursuance of the decision of is
Majesty's Government to provide additional air fasi li ti es
in the Far East and to improve the defmoss of Hong
8.. It has been represented to me by the
Secretary of State for Air that failure to commence work
on the landing-ground during the current dry season will
seriously delay the provision of the facilities required,
and it is urgently desired that the site may be nado
available for the early commencement of the necessary
works services, without prior settlement of the question
of the terms of transfer of the land, which has beau
reserved for the time being by the Lords Oamiani
of the Treasury.

I am not aware of the terms under discusså en
for the transfer of the land in question and I request
that I may be informed as soon as possible of the
standpoint of the Colonial Government in that matters
