It appears from paragraphs 4 of (5)
2-
and paragraphs and 5 of (6) in 33816/34 that the
offer of the Hong Kong Government to sell the
lands in question to the Air Ministry on the terms
set out in the Government's letters of the 10th
August, 1933, and the 19th September, 1933
(enclosures 1 to (5) and (6) in 33816), as modified
by subsequent correspondence, has been accepted by
the Officer Commanding, Royal Air Force Base,
Kai Tak. I do not think, therefore, that the
Hong Kong Government can now, in these cases,
ask the Air Ministry to pay the full economic
value of the land in addition to, twenty-five times
the annual Crown rent referred to in sub-
paragraphs (a) of the letters of the 10th August
and 19th September, 1933. The price which the
Air Ministry should be asked to pay for these
lands should, therefore, be respectively $41,025
and $173,492.
The
? Telegraph in reply to (1) as follows:
I agree that in future cases of
transfer of land Air Ministry should be asked
to pay current value in addition to
consolidated Crown rent, but in these cases in questio
since specific terms have been offered to and
accepted by Air Ministry, I propose to inform
Air Ministry that I approve transfer on terms
and conditions set out in letters of Hong Kong
Government
