Translation of letter from the Ministry of Railways
to the British & Chinese Corporation dated 13th November 1984
Dear Pirs,
We have for acknowledgment your favour of 31st ultimo
enclosing statement of the Canton Kowloon Railway Loan. You
called our attention to the fact that our payment on principal
together with interest and commission will be due on the 17th
instant and that you want us to verify your figures and to
inform you of our plans of meeting the payment.
In reply to the above, we beg to advise that the busi-
ness condition of the Canton Kowloon Railway has been poor
and its revenues are small. The Administration is therefore
unable to meet the obligation in question.
We are, however, endeavouring to devise suitable plans
in regard to the redemption of this Loan, and shall communicate
with you as soon as definite arrangements are made.
