I transmit herewith a copy of a letter from
the representative in China of the British and Chinese
Corporation, Limited, with regard to an encroachment
which he states has been made by the military Engineer-
porn: Shanghai ing Department upon the land of the Canton-Kowloon

the enclosed letter. As you are aware British inter-
ests are only concerned so far as the security for,
and the possible resumption of the Service of the rail-
way loan is affected, but you are authorised at your
Miscretion to make such representations to the Provin-
cial authorities as you may consider desirable.
