I have the honour to acknowledge the

receipt of your despatch No.382 of 27th October, 1934,

forwarding copies of correspondence exchanged with the

Anti-Slavery and Aborigines Protection Society.

The registered address of every registered

muitsai in the urban areas of Hong Kong and Kowloon to-

gether with the rural areas of Aberdeen, Aplichau and

Cheung Chau Island is now visited at intervals of five

and occasionally four months without exception.

3.

The number 1517 for the half-year ending

31st May, 1934, refers to successful visits where the

muitsai was found at the registered address. Unsuccessful

visits are carefully recorded and followed up but are not

included in the half-yearly returns transmitted to you.

4.

There are a number of muitsai (about 220)

with registered addresses in the remoter parts of the New

Territories who cannot be visited at such frequent

intervals. There are also over 100 muitsai with registered

addresses on board boats of various kinds the visitation

of whom has hitherto been difficult. The employers of
