Thomas Henry Joseph Pine, sworn, ds:- I am a master Gunner

in the Royal Artillery living at No.4 B Block Kennedy Road.

At 9.30 a.m. on 23rd June, I identified a body in the Govt.

Civil Mortuary as that of my son Michael Pine. Sgt. Hunter

and Dr. Valentine were present.

John O'Donovan, A.S.I.,sworn, ds:- On 17th July in the

afternoon I collected a number of straw hats four hats

representing three types. I showed them to Mrs. Fairburn.

She picked out this exhibit 5 as being the type of hat worn

by the man whom she saw climbing the railings on the nullah

bridge on the day of the tragedy. On 21st July at 9.30 a.m.

in Central I showed the same hats to Wong Shu Kat. He also

picked out Ex.5 as being the sort of hat worn by Deft. on

22nd June. On that day 21/7 later, at 10 a.m., I showed the

hats to Mary fine. She picked out the same hat Ex.5 as like

the one worn by the man who threw her into the nullah. I saw

accused in hospital

visiting it on the night of 22nd and

the morning of the 23rd June. On the 23rd seeing the

prisoner in bed I asked the Wardmaster for his clothing. I

received Ex.6 together with a pair of dark trousers Ex. IX -

a pair of white under pants and a cotton singlet (last two

not put in.) They have been in my possession since. On 7th

July I saw accused in a cell at Central police station.

Through an interpreter and Det. C.140 I explained he would

be put up for identification in the case of a murder of an

European boy. I told him he could have a solicitor or
